Night at the museam

Monday:
I was on a school trip with my class. When we wanted to use the bathroom we were supposed to be taken by an adult but my teacher said my friends and I were big enough to go by ourselves. So off we went to the loo.

When we were on the toilet the lights turned off. I absolutely hate the dark. Aria said it would just be someone pranking us. So we left the bathroom only to find that the rest of the museum was dark as well.

“Maybe it's just a power cut,”  said Hayley, so we went to the museum entrance to see our bus just leaving.

After searching for a way out of the museum, my friends and I started hearing strange sounds. We went to investigate.

We are walking along and we notice that the dinosaur was missing from his platform.
Nearby he is munching on the sheep from the discovery exhibit.
The next thing we know is we are being chased by the lion and the leopard also from discovery.
While we are running we see the dinosaur smash the mummy’s coffin and then the mummy sat up and said ‘It’s been along time….’

Finally we are able to catch everything and continue finding our way out.
We come across the maori exhibit and see the polynesian navigators hunting the moa and continuing their daily routine.

The lights turn back on and everything jumps back into place.
Then we leave scarred for life.

My masterchef home learning

For my masterchef home learning this week I decided to make my favourite dinner chicken wrapped in pastry with veggies. (the veggie part I dislike heavily)

You will need:
  • Chicken breast
  • Pastry sheets
  • Veges of your choice
  • Cream cheese

First you need to fillet the chicken breast.
Then cut a slit in the middle and put your cream cheese inside.
Place your chicken breast in the middle of your pastry sheet and wrap it up.
Repeat these steps until all you are satisfied with the amount of them you have made.

Here are some pictures:

My home learning

For my home learning this week I decided to make meringues.

The reason I made meringues is because I made some lava cakes and have three left over egg whites.
This is how I make meringues:

You will need:
  • 3 egg whites
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • A mixing bowl
  • A beater
  • 2 oven trays
  • 2 sheets of baking paper
  • Oven
  • tea spoon

Method:
Put your egg whites into the bowl and mix for about 10 minutes or until stiff and mousse - like.
Turn your oven on to 100 degrees celsius.
Then line your trays with the baking paper.
Next start spooning equal amounts of the mixture on to the trays.
Now bake them in the oven for a hour.

To make the cream filling you will need:
  • Tsp vanilla essence
  • 250 mls cream
  • 1 tsp raw sugar
  • A bowl
  • A spoon
  • A beater
  • The meringues you made earlier

Method:
Put cream, vanilla and sugar into bowl.
Then beat until thick.
Spoon cream into meringues and serve.

Axolotls

If you see an Axolotl without knowing what it is you are probably going to scream! Axolotls are weird feathery tadpole looking things that are native to Mexico and are critically endangered. You may however find them in pet shops.

In Mexico they are a delicacy to eat in the fine restaurants. I don’t know what Axolotls taste like but I’m not about to try one. You can have one as a pet. I have to say in a way axolotls are kind of cute.
Axolotls are named after a mexican god. Also they have some predators such as humans and bigger fish that intrude their territory.

Now it gets even weirder. The fish are carnivores meaning they only eat meat. They are also cannibals so they eat their own kind such as their babies. As well as being carnivores and cannibals they also swallow their food whole. CRAZY RIGHT???

For appearance they look a bit like Toothless from “How to train your dragon” minus the wings. They are amphibians and are also known as the “Mexican walking fish”. Axolotls have no eyelids and have frilly gills that hold their lungs outside their body, they also poop out of these gills. EEWWW, too close to the head for me!!! Axolotls regenerate which means they can regrow their limbs. Scientists have also grown a double headed one.

So that is why axolotls are so weird. So if you see one in a pet shop at least try not to scream!
